The histological and histochemical studies were conducted on the ductus deferens of fourteen adult male pigs. The wall of ductus deferens was consisted of four layers viz., mucosa, submucosa, muscularis and serosa. The mucosa was lined by pseudostratified ciliated columnar epithelium. The lamina propria and submucosa blended with each other to form propriasubmucosa. Muscularis layer was thick and consisted of an admixture of longitudinally and randomly distributed smooth muscles. Serosa consisted of loose connective tissue. Accumulated dense material filled with spermatozoa was appeared in the lumen. The average height of epithelium, thickness of tunica muscularis and luminal diameter were 81.33±2.77μm, 601.13±21.02μm and 719.5±11.43μm respectively. Epithelial cells showed intense reaction for glycogen whereas propriasubmucosa and tunica muscularis showed weak reactions. Both acid and alkaline phosphatase activities were robust and sensible in propria-submucosa and muscularis of ductus deferens respectively. Whereas gentle response in epithelium and serosa of ductus deferens in boar.Downloads
