Abstract

The study was conducted on the histology of preen glands in drongo. The preen gland was a paired organ, simple branched, tubular, holocrine type gland with a common cylindrical papilla. Preen glands were simple branched, tubular and holocrine type. The richly vascularised connective capsule was composed of collagen, reticular, smooth muscle and elastic fibres. The secretory tubules showed two zones, an outer zone and an inner zone. The epithelium of the tubules consisted of basal, intermediate and transitional layers.
