Abstract

The splenic capsule of goat was relatively thick with large number of smooth muscles than that of pig. Trabecular thickness was also more in goat than in pig, but trabeculae were numerous in pig spleen. Splenic sinuses were narrower in goat and the red pulp was more compactly arranged than in pig. Splenic corpuscles of white pulp were independent and randomly distributed in goat while they were arranged in groups of three to four in pig. Each splenic corpuscle consisted of central arteriole which was often located eccentrically. Ellipsoids/sheathed arterioles made of macrophages and reticular fibres surrounding the capillaries were more in pig than in goat.
