Abstract

The study was conducted on corpus epididymis of twenty four buffalo bulls during different seasons. The tissues were processed and stained with different histochemical stains. The epithelium, peritubular muscle layer exhibited a better reaction for neutral mucopolysaccharides, acid mucopolysaccharides, proteins and lipids during winter and autumn seasons as compared to spring and summer season. Blood vessels showed a moderate to strong reaction for neutral and acid mucopolysaccharides during winter and autumn but a moderate reaction for proteins and lipids during all seasons. Luminal contents were weak to moderately positive in all seasons. As the reaction was more during winter and autumn seasons, which may be correlated with high physiological activity of epididymal duct during that period.
