Abstract

With adoption of multitier fruit-cum-vegetable based horticultural system, the net returns from 0.24 ha increased 6.85 times, from `28,200 to `2,21,375 with 3.25 times increase in cost of cultivation. The cost of cultivation of improved system was `97,000 for 0.24 ha land. The benefit–cost ratio enhanced from 2.24 in existing systems to 3.20 in the improved system. Horticulture crops have immense scope in providing the benefits to farmers. The only thing which needs to be taken care is to carry out the cultivation in a scientific manner with adoption of proper package of cultivation. Efforts made by Shri Joginder Singh made him a role model for spread of multistoried technology in his and neighbouring village.
