Abstract

Mr Anup Kumar Chaturvedi, District Horticulture Officer, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, with a sound horticultural background and diversified zeal of developmental activities, has taken revolutionary steps for the welfare of farmers. He has encouraged a number of farmers who have diversified their farming activities from traditionally-grown wheat, sugarcane, rice etc. belt into a horticultural crops like vegetables, flower crops and medicinal and aromatic crops. Mr. Chaturvedi along with his team has trained many farmers on hightech cultivation technologies of horticultural crops. The installation of polyhouse of varied sizes, drip irrigation, hydroponic technology etc. go to his professional credit. Besides, he helps provide quality seed and planting material of various horticultural crops to farmers. In the field of mechanization, Mr Chaturvedi has changed tremendously by removing the role of middlemen and now he has helped made a provision of direct subsidy to be disbursed into the bank accounts of beneficiaries.
