Abstract
The IIHR, Bengaluru, with its partnership is playing a pivotal role in boosting horticultural growth in the country through technology development for the last 50 years. The main focus has been on the development of trait-specific varieties in fruit, vegetable, ornamental, medicinal and aromatic crops, and mushroom. Apart from this, improved crop production technology practices, post-harvest technologies and value-addition, and knowledge sharing are some of the areas where the institute has contributed. In addition to this, in the recent past, there has been focus on water prudent, climate resilient technologies with farmer-centric approach that include soil and plant health management, post-harvest management and value-addition, and farm mechanization, says DDG (Hort.
