Managing seed spice-borer
94 / 75
Abstract
Seed spices are important low-volume, high-value crop grown mostly in semiarid to arid areas of Rajasthan and Gujarat. Chalcid seed wasp (Systole albipennis Walker) (Eurytomidae: Hymenoptera) is an important and specific pest associated with seed spices like coriander, fennel, ajwain, anise etc. It causes damage in field condition but the immature stages present inside the seed emerge out during storage. This is an important quarantine pest. Its management needs multiple strategies and time-bound intervention through precision application of cultural, biological and chemical agents.Downloads
