Abstract

Twenty farmers of three adopted villages (Balarwa, Binjwariya, and Manai of Jodhpur) were selected while demonstrating effect of high walk-in tunnel for drying rose petals and freshly harvested mint leaves. Due to aberrant weather and high blowing wind, there was contamination in these products in open drying. The products dried in high walk-in tunnel were better in colour and fragrance and there was no contamination due to blowing winds or weather. Since it is a low-cost technology, there was an increase of `75,000/ha/annum in the net return by selling the rose petals dried in high walk-in tunnel as compared to open-dried products. Similarly, a group of ten farmers cultivating mint used high walk-in tunnel and earned an additional profit of `28,000/ha/season.
