Abstract

Malihabad region of Lucknow district is famous for cultivation of world renowned Dashehari mango which is a major source of their livelihood. Several factors such as changing pest and disease dynamics, lack of processing industry and organized marketing network in the region, and predominance of middle men in the trading network has reduced the profitability of mango production system particularly for small and marginal farmers. With an objective to enhance profitability of Dashehari farmers, a team of scientists from ICAR-CISH, Lucknow demonstrated good agricultural practices (GAP) during production, harvesting and post harvest handling of Dashehari mango in selected orchards under Farmer FIRST project.
