Abstract

Global biodiversity maintains human and environmental health, and ensures food security. It is estimated that 5-50 million species of living forms exist on the earth, and only 1.7 million have been identified so far, that includes 427,205 species of green plants, fungi, bacteria and viruses; 61,917 species of vertebrates and protochordata and 1,232,490 species of invertebrates including protista.
