Enhancing Soil Fertility and Potassium Dynamics in Sandy Loam Soils through Tank Silt and Wood Ash Application in Groundnut Cultivation

Tank silt and wood ash, often considered underutilized by-products, can serve as effective soil amendments for improving soil properties. A field experiment was conducted during the rabi season of 2023 on sandy loam soil to evaluate the effects of tank silt and wood ash on soil chemical properties and potassium dynamics under groundnut cultivation. The study employed a randomized block design (RBD) with three replications, incorporating ten treatments that included tank silt, wood ash, and foliar application of K2SO4 at varying levels of the recommended dose of potassium (RDK). A significant impact was observed on soil chemical properties and the water-soluble and exchangeable potassium fractions. However, fixed and total potassium contents remained statistically unchanged.
