The limited water resources in arid regions and the effects of agricultural and anthropogenic activities on groundwater quantity and quality demand a greater emphasis on assessing the quality of these resources. Therefore, a study was conducted in the Sanganer block of Jaipur district, Rajasthan, during 2019-2020 to assess the groundwater quality for irrigation. To ascertain groundwater quality, forty water samples were collected and analyzed for various water quality parameters, including pH, EC, cations (Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, K+), and anions (CO32-, HCO3, Cl-). Irrigation water quality indices such as SAR, RSC, SSP, PI, and KR were also calculated for these samples. The pH, EC, SAR, RSC, SSP, PI, and KR in groundwater ranged from 7.0 to 8.9, 0.82–4.9 dS m-1, 3.02- 18.51, -4.60 to 35.20 meq L-1, 45.3-87.7 meq L-1, 62.5-108.8 meq L-1 and 5.05-32.76, respectively. The order of abundance of major anions and cations in groundwater was found as Cl> HCO3> CO32->SO42- and Na>Mg>Ca>K, respectively. According to AICRP classification for irrigation water, 5, 2.5, 10, 35, and 47.5 percent of samples were found in good, marginally saline, marginally alkaline, alkaline, and high alkali categories, respectively. The study revealed that most of the water samples exceed the critical levels of irrigation water quality. It may require careful management to grow suitable crops in the study area.
