Abstract

Gross morphometrical studies on lungs were conducted on 18 prenatal and 18 postnatal goats. The foetuses were divided into 3 groups on the basis of CRL (crown rump length). The postnatal goats were also divided into 3 groups on the basis of age. The percentage increase in volume and weight of both lungs were almost directly proportional to each other. The volume and weight of both lungs observed in group 1 \vas 1.00 ml and 1.00 g, respectively, increased to 258.33 ml and 207.00 g in group 6. The length, width and thickness of the right and left lungs and their lobes increased uniformly and the length of the right lung was greater than the left lung in all age groups.
