A study conducted to determine the shift in area, production and productivity of wheat (Triticlun aestivum L. emcnd Fiori & Paol) in Punjab during the recent 30 years comprising 3 past decades (1970-71 to 1999-2000) showed significant increase in area and production of wheat in all the districts except Hoshiarpur and Ropar. The increase in both area and production was nlore conspicuous in the 1980-81 to 1989-90 decade as compared to the other 2 decades. This increase in production was not only due to an increase in area, but also due to improved productivity.Downloads
