Genetics of resistance to bacterial blight of rice (Xanthomonas oryzae pv oryzae) was studied in 3 Oryza nivaraaccessions from Madhya Pradesh. Resistance was controlled by a single recessive gene in each of the 3 O. nivaraaccessions, ie 'MS 34', 'MS 45' and 'VSR 59'. Segregating pattern of the F2 population of crosses of these 3 donorswith near isogenic lines with known (Xa) genes revealed that the gene for resistance present in these 3 accessions wasdifferent from Xa 1, Xa 2, Xa 3, Xa 4, xa 5, Xa 7, xa 8, Xa 10, Xa 11 and Xa 14 genes for resistance to bacterial biight.Downloads
