An experiment was conducted during 2002-04 to evaluate 9 sugarcane (Saccharurn spp hybrid complex) genotypes for phenotypic stability of yield and its component characters under 6 environments. G x E (linear) component of variance was significant for single cane weight, number of millable canes, commercial cane sugar (%), cane yield and sugar yield. The genotype 'CoLk 8 102' was found stable for cane yield (50.04 tonnesiha) and its component characters such as single cane weight (0.628 kg), number of millable canes (77.39 thousandsha), cane girth (2.16 cm), whereas 'CoLk 9710' showed stability for sugar yield (7.28 tonnesha) and its attributing characters, namely sucrose (1 8.02 %) and commercial cane sugar (12.38 %). Genotype 'CoLk 96 17' was stable for cane (56.43 tonnesha) and sugar yield (6.58 tonnesha) both, whereas 'CoLk 941 84' showed stability only for commercial cane sugar (%).
