Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during the rainy seasons of 1998 and 1999 to evaluate the response of'ICGS 76' groundnut (Amchis hypogaea L.) to different sources of S, viz single superphosphate, gypsum and elemental sulphur, each at 4 levels (0,15,30,45 kg S/h8). An application ofS @30 kg/ha proved superior to other levels in respect of yield, protein content and S uptake by groundnut. The effectiveness of S sources was in the order of gypsum> single superphosphute > elemental sulphur. Increasing the levels of S application resulted in narrowing the N : S ratio of groundnut.
