Mechanical transplanting of paddy A profitable occupation and sustainable solution

Abstract
Paddy is the main kharif crop in India occupying nearly 44 million ha area with averageyield of 2.6 t/ha. The paddy transplanting/sowing operation is mostly done manually, whichinvolves a lot of labour, time and human drudgery. Mechanization can be the solution tothese problems as well as opportunity for rural youth as custom hiring. Previously, the paddywas transplanted by labour or to some extent with mechanical transplanters and direct seededrice drills.Downloads
