Abstract

The Indian agriculture sector is labour-intensive and the 2020 lockdown in the Country adversely impacted agricultural operations amid Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19). COVID-19 lockdown restrictions have put tremendous pressure on agriculture as a consequence of the closing of labour movements, limited access to agricultural inputs and markets. This article addresses the crisis of the Indian agriculture sector amid lockdown restrictions and highlights various initiatives and policies adopted by the Government of India to combat adverse effects on Indian agriculture caused by the COVID-19 situation.
