Abstract

Potato is the predominant vegetable crop in India contributing around 28% of total vegetable production. India is the second largest potato producer in the world, accounting for about 15% of global potato production. Presently, the total export of potatoes, seed potatoes and potato products from the country is only about 1.05% of the total potato production; however, the export volume
has grown at an encouraging CAGR of 14.1% over the past two decades. This article discusses the Indian potato marketing systems, their constraints, and measures to improve them. It also deals with the status, growth and potential of exports of potato and its products from India.
