Abstract

Potato is affected by many diseases which affect at both pre-and post-harvest stage of the crop. Major fungal and bacterial diseases which affect the crop are late blight, early blight, black scurf and stem canker, dry rot, silver scurf, common scab, bacterial wilt, soft rot and black leg. These diseases are prevalent in most potato growing areas and can cause a significant reduction in potato production. A brief description of these diseases and their management is given in this article.
