Abstract

Apple flower bud induction is a complex physiological transition influenced by climatic conditions, hormonal regulation, and crop management. A field-based study, using station weather records and orchard phenological monitoring, conducted in Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh during 2022–2024, noted that mid-elevation zone (2,400–3,100 m) encompassing Kalpa, Roghi, and Sangla exhibited
a consistent climatic pattern, cool nights, moderate day temperatures, and adequate chilling (900–1,300 h below 7.2°C), that closely matched apple phenology. Management practices such as early fruit thinning, kaolin spray, and micronutrient supplementation (B and Zn) were found useful for enhancing floral induction.
