111 / 58
Abstract
In Orissa, the productivity of rice is 1.7 tonnes/ha around 24% less than national average. Besides, low rice productivity, larger variation in rice productivity among all districts across the state is quite alarming. The Integrated cereal Development Programme–Rice was launched in the state during 1994-95 with the prime objective to augment its production and productivity considering its importance as the single major cereal crop in the State. Since then, only 8- 9% area has increased under HYV, quite inadequate to meet the demand for rice in the State.Downloads
