Abstract
The experimental and demonstration results showed that‘CSR 30’ not only performs better in saltstressed soils but also gives about 20% higher yield than the national check ‘Taraori Basmati’. Due to its higher yielding ability sodicity tolerance and better resistance/tolerance to different biotic and abiotic pressures, ‘CSR 30’ has gained considerable popularity among farmers in basmati growing areas. A farmer Mr Jagdish Chand came forward to lay out
demonstration of this variety in his field. Basmati ‘CSR 30’ and ‘Taraori Basmati’ produced 37.5 and 32 q/ha paddy yield respectively.
