Abstract

Migration is a recurring phenomenon which is difficult to check completely. However, it is possible to reduce the migration once an enabling mechanism is operated wherein people could find wide array of opportunities in the rural areas. One major need is convergence of efforts of different departments and schemes for providing an integrated strategy for reducing rural migration. The strategy suggested for reducing rural migration in Ganjam district of Odisha is a way forward for other regions of the country to emulate the same. This will enhance the profitability of farming and prosperity of rural poor thereby reducing the rural migration.
