Abstract
Cultivation of rice and wheat crop significantly increased the seed/grain yield of both the rice and wheat crops in rice-wheat cropping system. The yield of both the crops were 39.44 q/ha and 40.12 q/ha of rice and 37.32 q/ha and 38.03 q/ha of wheat in both the years. In this system of cultivation of wheat crop by zero-tillage device the sowing time was advanced up to 20 days just after harvest of long duration improved rice crop. The advancement of sowing time of 10–15 days in wheat crop in rice–wheat cropping system was also observed. The net returns were Rupees 12,786/ha and Rupees 23,700/ha of rice crop in the year 2005-06 and 2006-07 and Rupees 14,848/ha and Rupees 19,015/ha of wheat crop, in the year 2005-06 and 2006-07, respectively. Higher net return in wheat crop through conservation tillage practices was also examined. The B : C ratio of rice crop was 0.72 and 2.37 in the year 2005-06 and 2006-07 where as in the wheat crop the above ratio was 0.63 and 0.59 in the year 2005-06 and 2006-07, respectively. The higher B : C ratio in wheat crop under zero tillage seeding was also reported.Downloads
