Seed Requirement for future demand of major cereals and millets

Abstract

The projections for the demand of major cereals (rice, wheat and maize) and millets during 2015, 2020 and 2025 have been worked out of basis of projections on population and consumption pattern of these food grains. The projected demand for various crops in case of rice will be 23.39%, 30.74% and 32.84% years. In wheat, it will be 108.7%, 151.43% and 238.57% higher than that achieved in year 2010. In maize and bajra, future demand will be marginally higher than the production made during 2020. In jowar, the projected demand will be 108.7%, 15.43% and 238.5% higher over the production of 2010.
