Abstract

Prior to the existence of AICRP on sugarcane, the research work
carried out by different research centers/universities was lacking
coordination. Even the varieties developed for a region with wider
siutability, had no recognition/access to other region for want of a central platform of their notification. Keeping this in view, the All India
Coordinated Research Project on Sugarcane was established by ICAR
in 1970-71 to act as nodal platform to intensify research on important
problems of sugarcane having regional or local significance with its
headquarters at the Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research, Lucknow.
