Little attention needs to be given by the farmers to into account thecost of irrigation water required to irrigate the crop, while calculating the total cost of production as well as the profitability of the crop to save the underground water. Hence, it is imperative to discourage cultivation of spring maize and farmers must be advised to go for short duration water efficient and sustainable crops such as summer moong.
