Abstract

The susceptibility to heat stress primarily was seen due to late sowing of wheat negatively affects growth and yield. Besides, reduced the availability of assimilates for grain filling. Wheat genotypes NW 1014, Halna, HD 2987, DBW 14 and WH 730 were found relatively heat-tolerant and suitable for late sown condition of eastern region. Adoption of these heat tolerant varieties might serve as potential donor to enhance tolerance to heat and will improve wheat productivity and food security in Eastern Indo-Gangetic Plains.
