Pulse beetles a major concern in stored pest management

Abstract

In storage, totally 25 species of the insects have been recorded on pulses. Of these, coleopteran pest cause major damage to stored grains and its products. In India, 117 species of bruchids belonging to 11 genera have been recorded infesting different pulses. Among them, the genus Callosobruchus contains several cosmopolitan, tropical and sub-tropical pests which attack grain legumes during both pre-and post-harvest stages.
