Abstract
In addition to its applications as natural remedy for women and cows, it possess a variety of medicinal properties as antiasthmatic, antidiabetic, anti-rhinoviral/antioxidant, hepatoprotective/ccl4-induced liver dysfunction, antitumour, antibacterial, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory (carrageenaninduced arthritis and suppressed the development of chronic arthritis), antidiarrheal, antiproliferative and cardiotonic. Chemical screening yielded phenol, carbohydrates, steroids, saponins, coumarins, tannins. In Philippines, juice of pounded leaves is applied to scalp to slow down hair loss and decoction of fresh material is used as wash for eczema. A decoction of the leaves with cumin and buttermilk is prescribed for diarrhoea and dysentery.Downloads
