Male buffalo calves (8), between 8 and 10 months of age, were given E. coli endotoxin @ 0.6 mg/kg body weight intravenously after jugular catheterization. The effect of endotoxin was studied at 0.5, 15, 30, 60 and 120 minutes of administration. After endotoxin infusion potential of P wave in lead II increased immediately; T wave during late stages; QRS decreased in late stages of shock after initial prolongation, P-R interval shortened in late stages of shock. Mean arterial pressure and central venous pressure registered a significant (P<0.05) fall; significant (P<0.01) prolongation of prothrombin time along with decrease in plasma calcium following endotoxic shock.
