Medetomidine (30g/kg) alone produced moderate sedation and analgesia for 60 min, whereas co-administration of medetomidine (30g/kg) and diazepam (1.5mg/kg) produced complete anaesthesia for about 120 min in atropine (0.60 mg) premedicated dogs. In both the groups, respiration rate decreased; but heart rate, arterial pressure and central venous pressure increased significantly after the administration of drugs, however, the effects were more marked in the combination group. No significant differences were seen in Hb, PCV, TEC and TLC values in animals of both the groups.
