Abstract

Acute renal failure was created in 16 Jersey crossbred calves by injecting 1 % uranyl nitrate @ 5 mg/kg. A good surgical anaesthesia was attained with atropine-diazepam-thiopentone than atropine-thiopentone. No significant (P >0.05) effect was seen on heart rate, temperature, respiration rate, tidal and respiratory minute volume, (CVP and MAP) after atropine-diazepam-thiopentone while the animals given atropine- thiopentone exhibited a significant (P< 0.05) increase in heart rate and MAP ECG did not reveal any marked changes.
