A viral agent isolated from a severe outbreak of pox in sheep was confirmed to be a sheep pox virus on the basis of agar gel immunodiffusion test, the production of the disease by inoculating scab in healthy lamb, characteristic cytopathic effects (CPE) in tissue culture and presence of pox like in skin scabs from the affected animals under the electronmicroscope.
