Observations (433) were recorded on swamp type lactating buffaloes at the livestock research station of Assam Agricultural University, Mandria. The mean values of udder length, width, depth and circumference were 40.56 ± 0.15, 35.11 ± 0.16, 6.55 ± 0.07 and 56.07 ± 0.14 cm respectively. The length, width, depth and circumference of the udder increases up to fourth lactation and shows a decreasing trend from early to late stages of lactation. Udder length, width, depth and circumference differed significantly between lactation and stages of lactation. Correlation coefficients of all the udder measurements were highly significant with test milk and 150-day milk yield. The majority of the udders were round shaped followed by bowl, flat, goat and bath-shaped. Test milk yield was more in bowl-shaped udders than that of others. Very soft udder produced more milk followed by soft, medium, moderately hard and hard udders respectively.
