Two antigens (F2 and H2) isolated from Fasciola gigantica were used to assess the antibody titres in the sera of buffaloes naturally infected with Fasciola gigantica metacercariae (mc) and also to monitor the persistence of antibody response following chemotherapy. Although the naturally infected animals (11) were coprologically negative, significant antibody response was detected up to 10th week post treatment. Following fresh experimental infection on 13th week post-treated animals with laboratory maintained mc, significant antibody response was detected in all the animals using both the antigens. However, anti-H2 antibody titre was maintained for longer duration than anti-F2 antibody titre but no significant difference in the antibody titres of animals infected with 200 and 800 mc was noted. The kinetics of antibody response in buffaloes using two functional antigens is compared and reported.
