Coagglutination and Biken tests for detection of enterotoxigenicity of Salmonella
75 / 17
Abstract
Staphylococcal coagglutination and Biken tests by using antiserum to purified Salmonella enterotoxin were standardized to screen salmonellae for their entetotoxigenicity. As many as 55 strains of Salmonella belonging to 12 different serotypes isolated from marketed pork and pork products were suhjected to these tests. Of these, 37 (67.27%) and 32 (58. 18%) produced enterotoxin as detectrd by CoA ano Biken lest respectively. None of these strains produced cholera or Shiga-related toxin. Both the tests correlated with rabbit ligated-ileal-loop lest completely for detection of enterotoxin-producing salmonellae.Downloads
