Indirect haemagglutinating and complement fixing immune responses in goats against various fractions of Mycoplasma mycoides subsp. capri

Abstract

Immunogenic fraction,viz, plasma membrane (PMI), protein fraction (PFI) and sonicated  suspension (SSI), of Mycoplasma mycoides subsp. capri with incomplete Freund's adjuvant were separately inoculated in 9 animals of each group with protein concentration of 0.25 mg/goal by s/c route along with the controls. This was followed by a booster dose of the same quantity after third week of inoculation. Indirect hacmagglutinating (IHA) and complement fixing (CF) antibody response were monitored in !be sera collected at definite intervals up to 5 months. The IHA antibodies were detected in 45% of goats immunized with PMI or SST and 56% of goats immunized with PFI at day 4 PI. All the sera showed IHA antibodies at day 7 PI except those belonging to PMI group which became positive at day 21 PI in all the goats. The CF antibodies were observed only on day 7 PI in all the goats and maintained up to 20 weeks PI.
