Abstract
The efficacy of dot-enzyme immunosorbent assay (dot-ELISA) and indirect haemolysis test (HIL) was compared with conventional serological serological tests, viz. standard tube agglutination test (STAT). Rose Bengal plate test (RBPT), and complement fixaution test (CFT) for diagnosing caprine bnicellossis. Out of 75 field serum samples, none could prove positive to RBPT.STAT and HILT, whereas, 2(2.26%) and 1(1.33%) were positve to CEF and IgG dot-ELISA respectively. the releative sensitivity and relative specificity in comparison with CFT was 50% and 100% for dot-ELISA. The RBPT, STAT and JILT could not prove sensitive, wheres, all these tests were realtively specitis when compared with CFT. In expermentally infected goats dot-ELISA could detect positive animals earlier to all other tests compared. The dot-ELISA was more sensitive, economical and rapid test for screening caprine brucellosis in field conditions.Downloads
