Abstract

Aspergillus flavus isolates (36) obtained from chicken lungs and air sacs and chicken feed, were screened for aflatoxin production on coconut-agar medium (CAM) aod apricot-soeds-agar medium (ASA) using thin-layer chromatography (11.C) fOT confirmation. Of the positive isolates, 30.5% and 36.1 % were detected on CAM and ASA media respectively. Aflamxin 13, either alone or more frequently with B2 was produced by the toxigenic isolates. The number of positive isolate and amount of toxin were greater on ASA medium. There was no relationship between aflatoxin production and the type of pigments released by the isolates on the tested media.
