Pig is the most popular livestock among the tribals of Meghalaya. Consumption of pork is considerably high in this state. Therefore, an attempt was made in this study to estimate· the economics of pig production in the West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya. Result of the study indicated that cost offeed alone constituted more than 70% of the total cost. Net return per sow was found to be Rs 1 413. This indicated that pig rearing in the study area was a profitable proposition.Downloads
