Abstract

Cadmium concentration was determined in milk samples from cows and buffaloes reared around the localities of textile,
metallurgical and petrochemical industries. Milk samples from cows and buffaloes in industry free rural localities were also analysed. The mean cadmium concentration in milk from industry free rural localities was 0.004±0.001 g/ml. The mean cadmium concentrations within 0-2.0 km vicinity oftextile, petrochemical and metallurgical industries were 0.008±0.001, 0.012±0.003 and 0.008±0.001 g/ml of milk which were significantly higher than the industry free rural localities.
