Bacteriological, biochemical and histopathological studies in uroperitoneum in buffalo calves (Bubalus bubalis)

Male buffalo calves (7), 1.5-3 month-old suffering from obstructive urolithiasis and consequent uroperitoneum were included in the study. Pre-operatively, haemoglobin, packedcell volume, blood urea nitrogen and plasma creatinine were higher while total plasma proteins were lower at this stage. All the parameters eXGept total plasma proteins showed some improvement 24 h following surgery. The histopathological examination revealed degenerative, vascular, necrotic and infiltrative changes in liver and kidneys. In all the cases infection is present in the urinary tract, which needs immediate attention for effective treatment.
