Twelve leptospira isolutes were successfully isohlted from various sources like, dead whlte albino mice (Mus mculus).dead Wistar rats (strain of Rattus norvegicus) field und house rats, sheep and ailing human urine samples All the isolates
were identified at serovar level by monoclonal antihody methods with the help of refcrence laboratory, Amslerdam.
Isolates from mice (1/45), wistar rats (ill 3), house. rat (1/1), sheep (1/18) ,md field rats (1/32) were typed as Serovau
Javanica of the serogroup Javanica and the 2 human isolates (2/4) were identified as serovar autuminahs and canucolaÂ
respectively. By animal pathogenicity study for the above isolates it was found that the house rat isolate and the human
isolales Were,' virulent in nature and they killed the inoculated guineapigs, while the mice isolate was huving moderate
virulence. None of the isolates from wistar rats, sheep and field rats were virulent.
