Abstract

Crossbred cows (16) were divided into PGFp. and 5MB groups. The superoestrus was induced with PGF2alpha in PGF2alpha group and Syncro- Mate-B in 5MB group. The superovulation was induced with folltropin. The embryos were collected nonsurgically. The number of ovulations, embryo recovery and transferable embryos were significantly (P<0.01) higher in PGF,a group, whereas, the number of nontransferable embryos were significantly (P<0.01) higher in 5MB group. Norgestomet (SMB) increased the secretory pattern of luteinizing hormone during the implant period. The LH concentration, on the day of initiation of superovulatory treatment and during the superovulation was significantly (P<0.1) higher In 5MB group than in PGFll group, whereas, on the day of superoestrus, it was significantly higher (P<0.01) in PGFp. group than in 5MB group. After the supcroestrus, it did not show any significant difference between the groups. Norgestomet brought early onset, shorter duration and lower peak concentration of LH surge than PGF p. In both the groups, the onset, duration and the peak concentration of LH surge possess significant positive correlation with the number of ovulations and embryo recovery, but the relationship was stronger (P<0.01) in PGF2alpha group and weaker (P<0.01) in 5MB group. The pattern of luteinizing horme one profile provoked by norgestomet reduced the embryo production and quality of embryos, and by PGF2alpha increased the embryo production as well as quality of embryos.
