Abstract

Crossbred cows (16) were divided into PGFp and 5MB groups. The oestrus was induced with PGF a in PGF a group and syncro-mate-B In 5MB group. The superovulation was induced with folltropin. The embryos were collected non surgically. The number of ovulations, embryo recovery and transferable embryos were significantly higher in PGF ,a group, whereas, the number of nontransferable embryos were significantly higher in 5MB group. The oestradiol concentration on the day of initiation of superovulatory treatment, during superovulation, on the day of oestrus, on day 3 after oestrus and on the day of embryo collection was significantly higher in 5MB group than in PGF a group. And it had significant positive correlation in PGFp group and nonsignificant positive correlation in 5MB group with embryo recovery and quality of embryos. Therefore, in 5MB group the oestradiol level during different days of superovulatory treatment cannot be used as a tool to predict ovarian response, embryo recovery and quality of embryos as in PGFp group.
