Fowl typhoid was experimentally induced in two-week-old broiler chicks. The birds were sacrificed on 1,3,5, 7 and 27 days post-inoculation (PI) to evaluate the efficacy' of acidifier in prevention of S. gallinantnl infection based on pathomorphological studies and evaluation of intestinal pH. Further, acidifier given birds, later challenged with S. gallinarum showed only low intensity lesions in liver, heart, lung, spleen, kidney and intestine as against severe degenerative and inflammatory changes. In vitro studies on efficacy ofacidifier showed marked antibacterial activity against S. gallinarum organisms.Downloads
